Artist Member Spotlight: Sally Smith
Port Republic Stained Glass Artist
In this new monthly newsletter feature, we will highlight ACV’s talented local Artist Members. For the month of June, we will start with our very first Artist Member, Sally Smith!
Sally lives in the community of Port Republic, where she is a founding member of the Village Artisans of Port Republic. This group of artists promotes the community’s talented artisans and organizes quarterly art shows at the restored Port Republic Town Hall.
Though Sally has worked with illustrations, oil painting, and photography in the past, she now focuses her creative energy on stained glass. Working out of her home studio, Sally creates traditional works and experimental stain glass
pieces that “tell stories of our remarkable and beautiful earth and its positive qualities, in a happy, fun way.” When asked what her favorite reasons are for living in the Harrisonburg and Rockingham area, she said, “My favorite things about the area are Port Republic, all my friends, neighbors, and acquaintances, the four seasons (I’m from Florida), and the mountains and parks. Not always in that order.”
